Peter and I have an orange Honda Element because orange is my favorite color. I always thought that I was unique in this, but according to the lore, Frank Sinatra's favorite color was orange too, so orange is so completely cool that it is Rat Pack cool.
We gave my sister the old Nissan Maxima last summer, and every time I had to have the car serviced I brought it to the Mount Kisco Nissan Service people, who are pretty much the nicest service guys I've ever met (I've almost never gone to the same place twice because I start hating the mechanics/service people).
Unfortunately, the Honda folks are assholes. They just walk around like they are complete jerks and you can tell that they are soul-less. Every time you go in with a problem, last time it was a cranky wheel, they give you a lame diagnosis like, "You should have your left-hand-signal fluid replaced for one thousand dollars."
Every time they tell me to do something for my car, I google it and The Internet informs me that these guys are complete hucksters and assholes for even suggesting this work.
This time we had this window crack (our yearly and fourth window crack), which is under a special warranty because there was a defect in several Element models and ours happens to fall under this category.
When Peter brings the car to the dealer, they tell us that the crack didn't start in the lower right-hand corner of the windshield where it cracks every year. No, it must have gotten hit by a miniscule pebble that left no evidence.
Right, because a PEBBLE fell out of the sky from the Mount Kisco Honda Gods and hit our windshield in the corner where it split the windshield while the car was PARKED in our eensy weensy parking spot.
Fuck you Mount Kisco Honda.
So we called Honda customer service and the lady we spoke to said that the dealership was supposed to take care of this and not give us a hard time. But if they did give us a hard time, to take down her telephone number and extension and she'll have them take care of it.
So when I went to the dealership, they acted all surprised to see me again and said, "Your insurance won't take care of it?"
My reaction was to get really ANGRY and say in front of all of their other customers, "NO, I don't think that my INSURANCE needs to take care of it when this issue is a DEFECT that you guys all know about and I have already shown you the PAPERWORK for the extended warranty your company gave us regarding this issue. I spoke to customer service at Honda and they said to have you speak DIRECTLY to them about it if you guys gave me a hard time."
They were such jerks and got all defensive and said stuff like, "We're not giving you a HARD TIME. We would NEVER give you a HARD TIME."
Right, your customer service is GREAT. That's why steam is practically rising out of my head.
Reluctantly, they called the Honda lady and said that they would take care of the problem but it would probably take three days.
THREE DAYS? Last time Geico had this done, it took fifteen minutes and the guys came TO OUR HOUSE.
Mount Kisco Honda guys are SUCH ASSHOLES.
This makes me want to get one of those electric plug-in cars which would ensure that I would NEVER have to go to a dealership again for service.

Reading this makes me glad my son is a mechanic.

Try Tarrytown Honda - they are new and a pleasure to deal with.
Funny, I am looking to buy a honda and was treated horrendously by these guys! I wouldn't buy a cotton t-shirt from them let alone a car. Sorry you have to deal with them.
Hey, I had a disgusting experience with this dealership. I bought a vehicle there and was treated so badly by their sales manager, Rob the asshole, that I am sending my plate holder back. NO free advertising on my car for that armpit of a business. By the way, I took my complaint to the general manager and asked for an apology (customer is always right! yeah right!) I was told I didn't deserve one. So you are correct "FUCK Mount Kisco Honda" sideways.
Wow, I'm glad I stumbled across these comments. I was looking for a new Honda dealership to do basic stuff on my S2000 and CR-V, deciding to no longer do business with Curry Honda.
I think I'll try Tarrytown Honda... :-)
I'm so glad--although I've never found a Honda dealer that was great--just had a TERRIBLE experience at White Plains Honda that I will write about in a few days. So if you find a good one, let me know!
NEVER EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MT KISCO HONDA...... ALWAYS FIXED ME UP AND NEVER TRIED TO DO ANYTHING SHIFTY. SUCKS FOR ALL THE HATERS.
I'm glad you had a positive experience--because I am so hatering on them!
Oh, Honda is a wonderful company, well, as I have learned, they SUCK! I live in Danbury, CT and drove all the way to Mt. Kisco Honda because they had the only used element in the area that was a stick shift. Well, there finance guy Joe set me up with a payment plan and didn't care to tell me that my first automatic payment was going to be twice what it was supposed to be.... When I called Honda, they told me to call Honda Finance, so I call honda finance, they told me that automatic payments are set up by the dealership and to call the dealer... so I call Mt. Kisco again and left a message for the finance guy... who never returned my call! So I call again today, and surprise surprise, Joe doesn't work there anymore! All I got was, "I'm sorry the payment plan wasn't explained to you" EXCUSE ME, I sat in Joe's office for the better part of an hour having that payment plan explained to me. Better Business Bureau here I come!
I came across your blog post while googling "Mount Kisco Honda." As the General Sales Manager here I was very dissapointed to hear about your unpleasant experience and the several comments posted after. I realize the original post is almost three years old but I would like to extend a sincere apology to your inconvenience. If you still have your Element and have any further issues please call me directly at 914-666-0030.
We have been loyal customers of Mount Kisco Honda with 2 Hondas purchased and serviced by them. When we bought the Pilot, the manager(not the salesman) was very aggressive in selling us the extended warranty. We did not need it but bought it because he promised that if we do not use the warranty, we will get the $2000 back, and that they will take care of the paperwork. The Pilot never needed repairs that was covered, so we tried to get the refund. Mount Kisco Honda was very rude and said that the manager is gone, and that it is not in writing that they will help.I called the company(ProGuard) and found out that they are out of business, and seems like there are a lot of people who were victims. Is there anyone who got cheated like us? Mount Kisco Honda must have made good money by selling that. I hate the way they treated us and would like to know if anyone had the same experience.
They screwed me too. I got a mailer that offered to bring my leased vehicle in early to pick up a new car. I did just that...and they totally ripped me off on the new car I took. I am now in the market for another Honda and can't bring myself to going to MK for it, despite them being 5 miles from my home. Going to Tarrytown, White Plains and even New Rochelle to see what I can find instead.
I was trying to deal with the Sales Manager at Mt. Kisco Honda to resolve some issues with my 2011 when I sent the following email in July 2011.
"Would you please find out why I, and my parents for that matter, fail to receive the service specials circular in the mail? I figured that when I bought a new car they would at least start again. When we stopped getting them a few years ago I spoke to the people in the service department and a bunch of others in the dealership and there was the typical run around and nobody could help. Why is the customer service at Mount Kisco Honda so bad? My girlfriend got a new Honda at Nardy on Long Island in February, 2011. Imagine this, they called her shortly thereafter to see how she liked the car! They call her from time to time and she gets service specials in the mail. Other than for contact that I've initiated I never heard anything since the day I drove my car off the lot in January, 2011. I still have to decide where to maintain my vehicle and right now I am not inlcined to return to Mount Kisco and am thinking of discouraging others as well. Once again I will say if I knew the quality of the paint Honda uses was so poor (GOOGLE Honda paint quality) I would have stayed away. Rather than try and go out of your way to make the customer happy I've had to make special arrangements to go to a dealer DURING THE WORK WEEK to have my car looked at. And nobody at Mt. KIsco seems to know in advance the schedule of the rep! Totally unacceptable!"
This is the reply I received from the Sales Manager Andy G.
" At this point I think it best that we TERMINATE our relationship. I will continue to service your mothers car whenever necessary. Please do your best to find a Honda dealer that can meet your needs to your expectations."
WHITEPLAINS HONDA DOES SUCK !!! THEY ARE REALLY UNPROFFERSONAL ...MT.KISCO CHEATED MY MOM OUT OF $800.00 SHE WENT THERE WITH A COUPON FOR A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE & CHECK UP.THEY BEGAN ROUTINE WORK ON THE CAR BEFORE INFORMING HER & THEY PRESENTED HER WITH A BILL...WE DISPUTE IT FOR MONTHS THEY ONLY TOOK 20% OFF THE BILL
Not sure where to start. I agree with all the negativity Mt K Honda. I have owned 5 Accords and now 2 Civics. With my last Accord I went for an estimate to a place I know and trust. I wanted a second opinion and called the dealership to get a second opinion. They sent me to a place where a small sign on the wall (I missed) got them off the hook for holding my car ransom over 250.00 for the estimate the other guy did for free. I call the dealership and after complaining to the GM he called and the place gave me a 50% disc. Yup I had to pay 125.00 to get my car back. No I will not cal mt k Honda again. Pity.
They are the worst. Does anyone have a suggestion of who to use in the Mt. Kisco/Chappaqua area?
The best expierance I've ever had was Tarrytown Honda hands down.... Highly recommended it......
thanks for this valuable info
